2013 Street Stock Rules
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. Race officials shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.
IMCA-type Stock Cars are legal to race with this division in 2013. All cars designating this type must follow ALL of the rules set forth by IMCA with the only exception being weight, of which they must weigh a minimum of 2,950 lbs. after the race with the driver.
BODIES
No station wagons or convertibles. All doors must be welded shut or bolted shut. Trunk lids and hoods must be safely pinned for easy removal. NOT BOLTED. All upholstery, glass, chrome or loose items must be removed. Car must have holes covered. Sunroofs and T-tops must be reinforced and enclosed. American factory cars or trucks with complete body. Steel aftermarket bodies OK, must look OEM. Front fenders must remain at least 75% of original size. Firewalls may be custom made with steel. Firewalls may be moved back. Stock appearing body only, must be steel. No flat sides. Firewall may be moved back, and may be made with original material or steel. May run 6” x 72” spoiler. Sides of spoiler can be no larger than 18 ½” x 6” tall at the rear and 4” tall at the front. Must be a triangular shape. Aftermarket nose and tail pieces OK.
ROLL BARS
Full cage bars from four directions. Full welded to frame. Must be gusseted with four (4) inch gusset in all corners. Roll bars must be made of 1-1/2” tubing of .095 wall and must be a good grade of steel. A horizontal bar shall be installed with a bar in rear of cage to be of same material as roll bars. Driver must have 3” head clearance from top of cage. (X) bracing must be at least 1” in diameter. All bars around driver’s head must be padded for safety.
DRIVER’S EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL
Driver must have helmet, safety belts, and shoulder harnesses over each shoulder. 5-point harness is mandatory. Not over three years old and in good condition. Driver MUST wear full fire suit (top and bottom) and Snell rated SA2005 minimum helmet – no cracks. Fire extinguisher mounted within driver’s reach is required and in working order. Racing gloves, neck braces, and window nets are mandatory. At least 3 safety bars must be installed in front of driver in windshield opening. Kill switch must be installed within driver’s reach and be clearly marked ON and OFF.
RACING SEATS
Aluminum racing seats MANDATORY. Must be bolted to frame and roll cage.
ENGINES
Engine must be OEM appearing, must be able to be used in conventional passenger car without alteration. GM with GM, Ford with Ford, Chrysler with Chrysler. Aftermarket engine mounts allowed, including midplate. Radiator must be mounted in front of engine. Cooling system may be modified. Any American make engine allowed. Steel heads, block and oil pan only. OEM passenger vehicle production block only. Castings and fittings cannot be changed, no machine work on outside of engine. Steel or aluminum water pumps allowed. ‘Wet’ sump oiling system only. Accumulator allowed – cannot be located between seat and door bars. INTAKE: Any intake allowed. Cooling lines allowed on aluminum intakes. Disqualification, loss of points, purse and $250 fine if any unapproved alterations are found to intake. Flat top or dished pistons only, no gas ported pistons. OEM or OEM appearing replacement steel crankshaft only – cannot be lightened. OEM or OEM appearing replacement steel rods only. Cap screw allowed. Conventional flat tappet cam and lifters only. Mandatory one inch inspection hole in all pans – no obstructions to crank and rods. CYLINDER HEADS: Steel only. Must be unaltered approved OEM and original minimum 76 cc combustion chamber (GM). Maximum size valves on these heads are 2.02 inch intake and 1.60 inch exhaust. May use Stock Replacement (SR) cylinder heads, Engine Quest (EQ), Dart, Pro Topline, Bowtie, Vortec, or World Products. All SR heads must remain as produced, seat angles and valve sizes can not be changed: three angle valve job only (absolutely no casting removal in valve pocket head for any reason). No porting, polishing or unapproved alterations allowed to ANY cylinder head. (Exception is flat milling allowed). Guide plates, screw-in shouldered studs (0.375-inch max) and polylocks allowed. Full roller rocker arms allowed. GM – 1.250 inch (± .015 tolerance) maximum O.D. valve springs. Unaltered OEM type harmonic balancer only.
FRAME & SUSPENSION
Minimum 108” wheelbase. Stock frame. Top tubular A-arms are ok. No rack-n-pinion. No coil over suspension. Weight jacks are ok. Adjustable spring spacers allowed. No extra shocks or coils. Stock suspension for make of car. Rear shocks and Rear shock placement is optional. Stock trailing arms only. NO adjustable or aluminum shocks. Extra holes in adjustable spring shackle is OK. No composite springs.
CARBURETOR
Only (1) 2- barrel or (1) 4-barrel carburetor. Must have two throttle return springs.
STEERING
Original type. Quick release style OK. Steering box must remain in stock location. Steering quickners OK.
WHEELS, TIRES, BRAKES
Wheels: Any steel wheel, not to exceed 8”. Right rear bead lock OK. Wheel spacers are NOT permitted. All wheels must have heavy duty studs and race type lug nuts. Tires: Any DOT street tire, Hoosier or American Racer G-60 (minimum durometer of 55), Hoosier H500, or Asphalt take off (minimum durometer of 70) may be used. No snow or all-terrain tires. Cross grooving OK. Four wheel brakes in working condition at all times. Brake adjuster and after-market master cylinder OK. Racing pedals OK.
ELECTRONICS
One 12 volt, non adjustable, ignition box allowed. Only change allowed to ignition box is one high-end rev-limiter or an internal setting inside box. Crane #6000-6474 preset ignition box, MSD #8728 rev-control or MSD #8738 additional rev control box allowed. No additional ignition accessories allowed. All components must be out of reach of driver, but accessible for inspection with rev limiter facing upward. No magnetos or crank triggers. OEM type alternator with internal regulator allowed. No electronic traction control devices.
REAR END, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL
Transmission: Any manual four speed or standard three speed with full gears including reverse. Automatic is OK with stock appearing torque converter and in working condition. Any stock transmission, flywheel, pressure plate. A steel scatter shield ¼” or more is required over the bell housing for manual transmissions and must be securely fastened directly to the frame. Aftermarket single disc clutches OK. Triple disc ok, no smaller than 7 ¼. Auto transmissions must use minimum 11” stock torque converter. Must have visual inspection port no less than 1” in diameter in bell housing. Rear end: Any passenger car or half ton rear end OK. Interchanging and locking OK. Floater rearends OK. NO quick change.
NUMBERS
Cars must have numbers on both sides and top of car and must be at least 20 inches in height and 4” in thickness. Number MUST be legible. You may be asked to modify your numbers so that they are legible for scoring purposes. Maximum of three digit numbers, MUST be visible. Recommend numbers on left front and right rear. All numbers shall be in contrast by color of body. Duplicate numbers will have to be changed or modified so track officials will have no problems in identification.
BUMPERS
Type optional.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
All cars MUST have a fire extinguisher in working order and within driver’s reach.
FUEL TANKS
Must be inside of trunk with screw or lock type cap. Must be set in steel box with safety straps and secured tightly. Fuel Cell required.
FUEL
Pump gas or racing gas is legal. No additives. May be randomly checked. No alcohol. E85 OK.
FUEL PUMP
No electric fuel pumps allowed.
MIRRORS
NO mirrors allowed.
WEIGHT
MUST weigh 3250 lbs. All bolt on weight must be securely mounted and pass safety inspection. Added weight must be painted white and have car number on it. NO bolt on weights in driver’s compartment.
BATTERY
Must be securely mounted and covered. Recommended to mount battery under hood. Must be full enclosed if in cockpit and pass safety inspection.
DRIVESHAFT
Must be painted white and have front loop at front part of driveline. ¼” material, 2” wide and no farther back than 6”. No aluminum or carbon fiber driveshafts.
TOWING LOOPS
Cable loops must be installed (front & back) and easily accessible so cars can be lifted on end and towed to the pits.
EXHAUST
Headers with collectors.
STARTER
All cars must be equipped with self-starter. Must be in working condition and car must start on own power at all times. If car does not start and drive off without assistance, it will go the back of the pack.
TRACTION CONTROL
Automatic disqualification and $10,000 fine. If found with an electronic traction control device at any point during an event, driver loses all points in all divisions and is suspended until fine is paid. Device may be confiscated and retained by Salina Speedway.
